Consta ("we", "our", or "us") is a focus-lock Android application designed to help you schedule focus blocks and stay locked in until your work is done. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the Consta mobile app and related services.
1. Information We Collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and name. This information is stored so you can sign in, sync your profile, and track survey progress across devices.
Device and usage data
When you are signed in, Consta collects daily app names, app categories, and screen time data from your device. This usage data is sent to our servers so a mentor can guide your progress and help you build better focus habits.
- Free accounts: the last 3 days of usage data are retained.
- Premium accounts: the last 30 days of usage data are retained.
- Guest users: usage data is not uploaded to our servers.
Device registration
On first launch, Consta registers your device with our backend to enable trial access and sync features. A unique device identifier is generated for this purpose.
Survey responses
If you complete an onboarding survey, your responses are stored and associated with your account to personalize your experience.
Chat and support messages
Messages you send through mentor chat or support channels are stored so our team can respond and provide assistance.
2. Permissions We Use
Consta requests certain Android permissions to deliver its core functionality. These permissions are used only for the purposes described below:
- Device admin: to lock the screen when a focus session starts.
- Display over other apps (overlay): to show the lock screen during focus mode.
- Usage access: to collect app usage data for mentor guidance (signed-in users only).
- Camera: for wake alarm photo verification challenges.
- Notifications and exact alarms: to deliver wake alarms and session reminders.
- Battery optimization exemption: to prevent the lock service from being killed in the background.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain the Consta app and its focus-lock features.
- Authenticate your account and sync your data across sessions.
- Enable mentor guidance based on your device usage patterns.
- Process survey responses and improve onboarding.
- Respond to support requests and chat messages.
- Manage Premium subscriptions and coupon redemptions.
- Improve app performance and fix bugs.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:
- With mentors assigned to your account, to provide guidance and support.
- With service providers who help us operate our infrastructure (e.g., cloud hosting), bound by confidentiality agreements.
- When required by law, regulation, or valid legal process.
- To protect the rights, safety, and security of Consta, our users, or the public.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Usage data is retained according to your plan (3 days for free, 30 days for Premium). When you delete your account or sign out permanently, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable timeframe, except where retention is required by law.
6. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), secure password hashing, and access controls on our servers. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights and Choices
You have the following choices regarding your data:
- Sign out: You can sign out from the Account screen at any time.
- Guest mode: Use Consta without an account to prevent usage data from being uploaded.
- Revoke permissions: You can revoke app permissions in your device Settings, though some features may stop working.
- Request deletion: Contact us to request deletion of your account and associated data.
8. Children's Privacy
Consta is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us so we can promptly delete it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the updated policy in the app or on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Your continued use of Consta after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
